Useful Swindon info:-

Set in the beautiful county of Wiltshire, Swindon is full of history. Swindon was originally a small market town, used for barter trades until the mid 1800's, but with the arrival of the Great Western Railway in 1940, a whole new town was created, which has now become Swindon's fully pedestrianised town centre. Swindon offers both inside and outside shopping centres, as well local and international markets, so there is sure to be something for everyone, whether you want the latest fashion, or a right bargain!

If you are the more adventurous type, why not try your hand at Combat Splat Paintball, which has proved to be one of the best performing attractions in the region. You can unleash your competitive side at this independent paintball site and have a really fun day out. If paintballling doesn't quite take your fancy, you can enjoy a family fun day at Jungle Parc Adventurer Course. Set in the idyllic Lydiard park, the course has over 50 different actvitities for children. The price includes the safety equipment required, so you do not need to pack anything extra.

You can soak up one of the biggest pieces in Swindon's history and visit the Steam Museum of the Great Western Railway. Recommended as a place to visit, this really isn't one to miss. Children under three go free and you can even have some lunch on one of the Platforms. If you want a relaxing stroll through contry parks, or to see the picturesque views that Wiltshire has to offer, Stanton Park offers 74 hectares of greenery as well as extensive woodland and a large lake. Barbury Castle is an iron-age hillfort set in a 60 hectare site and is perfect for taking in the views as it overlooks the town of Swindon.

Whatever you decide to do in Swindon, you can relax in their extensive array of restaurants, coffee shops and bars and enjoy what the town has to offer.
